Mission

"The mission of Jewish Community Services is to provide social services to the Jewish and general population of Genesee County and to foster the well-being of the community through collaborative community events."


Our History

Jewish Community Services began in 1936 under the auspices of the Flint Jewish Federation. In 1987 it was established as an independent non-profit organization to provide social services to the Jewish and general communities in all of Genesee and parts of Lapeer, Shiawassee and Oakland Counties.

Consistently responding to the needs of the most vulnerable populations in the area, Jewish Community Services developed the following services:

Kosher Home-Delivered Meals and Congregate Meal Program
Asian Indian Home-Delivered and Congregate Meal Program

Case Coordination
Older Adults
Individual Development Accounts for low-income families

Immigrant Services

Local Transportation Services for Seniors and the
Disabled

Highway to Health - medical transportation outside

Community Benefits

With a budget of $560,749, JCS employs 15 people and
provides services to 1500 clients annually through our various
programs.

To increase the effectiveness of our services, JCS collaborates
and partners with other agencies and organizations, such as
Catholic Charities of , YWCA, Metro Housing, United Way of
Genesee County, Department of Human Services, Flint Mass
Transportation Authority, Genesee County Community Action
Resource Department, North End Soup Kitchen, Flint Area
Chamber of Commerce, Resource Center, and other local
agencies.

JCS staff serves on the Emergency Food and Shelter Board
and the agency is affiliated with the Genesee County
Commission on Aging, Genesee County Local Advisory
Council for Transportation, Michigan Nonprofit Association,
National Association of Social Workers, National Council on
Aging, Older Adults System of Care, New Immigrant Services
Coalition of Mid-Michigan, Senior Directors' Association of
Genesee County, Strengthening Families System of Care,
Association of Jewish Family and Children's Agencies
(AJFCA), which includes Jewish Family Services agencies
located throughout the United States, and Hebrew Immigrant
Aid Society (HIAS).
